The GDST is a unique family of 25 independent and academic all-girls schools across England and Wales.
Scope
Brighton Girls is an all-through school that struggled to deliver modern teaching in older buildings populated with rooms that were no longer fit for purpose. The trust that was embarked on an ambitious refurbishment programme allowed us to transform the spaces.
Services provided
Showcase Portsdown PSR collaborated with the architects, external consultants and the school’s key stakeholders to help design, specify and deliver a loose furniture package to complement the school’s and architects’ vision for the Vicarage, Admin, Montpellier and Temple buildings.
Through workshops, we developed informed layouts using our in-house Interior design team and helped the school visualise these with our REVIT 3D modelling programme. The Temple & Vicarage buildings are Grade II listed, and the furniture and palette of finishes were carefully selected to be sympathetic to the building’s heritage whilst being robust for the challenging nature of student environments.
Challenges Faced
The split site is in the heart of Brighton and presented some significant logistical challenges for our installation team, which was expertly managed by our in-house operations team.
