Showcase PSR was appointed by MCW Architects to deliver a bespoke student accommodation scheme for St John’s College, Cambridge.
The brief called for a departure from conventional student housing, transforming eleven Victorian terraced houses into 43 bedrooms, six lounges, and six dining rooms. The design focused on creating a warm, home-like environment that reflected the individuality of private residences while respecting the constraints of an older building.
The project was delivered as a standalone engagement, building on a long-standing relationship with the college.
Scope & Services
Showcase PSR provided full FF&E consultancy and installation, including supplier research, showroom tours, product sourcing, and coordination with manufacturers to meet bespoke sizing and domestic-style requirements.
Furniture was selected to suit the architectural constraints of the building. The team utilised a range of our supply chain to deliver tailored solutions. Furniture installation was managed by Showcase PSR, including a phased sign-off with contractors. Every detail was considered to ensure a homely and high-quality finish that met the outlined budget.
Success Points
The project was delivered on time and to specification, transforming the accommodation into a warm, inviting environment that supports student wellbeing and reflects the college’s heritage. The final result showcases Showcase PSR’s ability to deliver bespoke, design-led solutions in complex settings, with minimal disruption and maximum impact.
