Showcase PSR Portsdown played a key role in providing the finishing touches that helped transform our innovation centre into a modern, striking and – perhaps most importantly – comfortable working space for our end users.

From our very first meeting, we were ably assisted by their team, from reviewing plans to selecting suitable pieces of furniture, and right up to delivery day.

In 2024, Crawley Borough Council set out to create a dedicated home for the town’s growing community of technology and engineering businesses, transforming a vacant 24,500 sq. ft. office building into a flexible, design-led Innovation Centre.

Welcoming SMEs of diverse, the centre forms a key part of the council’s wider strategy to regenerate the local economy and support high-value sectors.

Showcase PSR was appointed via the YPO framework as the FF&E partner for the project, working alongside Morgan Sindall and Yellow Wren Design. Our role was to bring the design vision to life by advising the designers, sourcing the furniture, and ensuring each product met the high standards for durability, functionality, and flexibility, all while staying within the constraints of a public-sector budget.

The PSR team managed the delivery scheduling, collaborating closely with the client, contractors, architects, and interior designers to ensure coordination and a smooth execution.

Scope & Services

The design called for a diverse range of work environments, from focused desks and private meeting rooms to informal lounges, touchdown spaces, and café-style dining areas.

Showcase PSR played a crucial role in refining product selections, sourcing furniture from a carefully chosen mix of trusted British and European manufacturers, ensuring a perfect balance between performance, sustainability, and visual appeal.

Strategic adjustments were made to align with the public-sector budget, all while preserving the integrity of the design intent. The PSR team arranged for the client to test products first-hand, provided samples for approval, and coordinated the procurement process across multiple supply chains.

The building’s stand-out feature was its timber acoustic ceiling in the main lounge, which we complemented with furniture that mirrored its materiality and warmth. A bespoke collaborative table, designed to reflect the ceiling’s geometry, helped create a cohesive and high-spec finish, grounding the space with a sense of continuity.

As the construction timeline faced delays, we took full responsibility for FF&E storage and phased deliveries, managing all scheduling and installation logistics to ensure a smooth and efficient final fit-out, making the space ready for occupancy without compromising on quality or deadlines.

Success Points

The result is a modern, adaptable workspace designed to foster flexible working, innovation, and collaboration among local businesses.

Showcase PSR played a key role in translating the architectural vision into a functional and inspiring interior, with carefully chosen furniture and bespoke elements that enhanced the overall aesthetic.

By staying closely involved from concept to installation, Showcase PSR ensured the centre was delivered on time and within budget, helping to support Crawley’s goal of attracting and retaining dynamic, high-growth companies.
Opening its doors in early 2025, the Innovation Centre is already generating significant interest from prospective tenants.
