When our client envisioned transforming their newly acquired space on Greenheys Lane, Manchester, into a cutting-edge learning hub for a local University tenant, they turned to Showcase PSR to bring their vision to life: The Base Building – a modern space designed to inspire.

Scope & Services

Spanning 37,000 square feet across two floors, the Base Building was designed to provide a state-of-the-art environment where students can work, relax, and socialise. It serves as a vibrant student-focused hub with 17 purpose-built classrooms, breakout zones, cozy study pods, and a library.

From the outset, the PSR design team collaborated closely with the client to prioritise accessibility, wellbeing, and inclusivity. Every detail was carefully considered, from ergonomic furniture to high-quality durable finishes, ensuring the perfect balance of style and functionality.

PSR Furniture Consultant James Crome played a pivotal role in guiding the client through the furniture selection process. Partnering with trusted suppliers like WSOF, esPattio, Flock, Verco, Elite, Steelcase, Senator, and Orangebox, we crafted bespoke furniture solutions tailored to the project’s needs.

Adaptability was a key focus, enabling classrooms to accommodate varying student numbers and teaching styles with ease.

Each supplier was selected based on strict criteria, including cost-effectiveness, comfort, sustainability, and project suitability. To maintain a fresh, modern aesthetic, we incorporated newly launched products, steering clear of repeating designs used in previous projects.

For added efficiency, we presented furniture options in a structured ‘shopping list’ format, allowing for straight-forward decision-making and client approval. Showroom tours, collaborative brainstorming, and strategic planning further ensured that every element aligned with the desired vision.

With orders placed ahead of schedule and frequent site visits, we delivered the project on time and within budget.
