Education Spaces That Last: Newcastle University

By May 28, 2026Uncategorized

Built to last… but more importantly, built to be used.

PSR Sales Manager Gavin Phillips recently revisited Newcastle University’s Stephenson Building to see how the space is performing in real use. A couple of years on from its two-phase delivery, it’s doing exactly what it should.

Staff and students are making full use of the space. From labs and lecture rooms to maker zones and breakout areas, everything is working hard, with furniture standing up to the demands of daily use.

It’s also a reminder that the final piece of any project is the people. How they move through a space, use it, and make it their own is what brings it to life.

That’s why our projects don’t stop at handover. We revisit, observe and learn, carrying those insights forward to shape future environments that work just as well in practice as they do on paper.

Delivered alongside EDG Architects and Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd, this was a genuinely collaborative project from day one, designed around how people actually learn, work and connect.

Always good to come back and see a space not just looking the part, but being properly used and enjoyed.
